Our Aims & Values

We believe that every student should have the opportunity to experience success, through a rich and balanced curriculum, where vocational, practical, physical, creative and academic qualities are equally regarded.
Every individual matters, each one is unique with abilities to be discovered and developed. Each individual has the potential to succeed and achievements will be celebrated. The life of the school community is based on the values of truth, honesty, fairness and respect for each person. We are committed to encouraging and enabling all to aspire to individual excellence.

Our Academic Record

We are proud of our academic record. Last year 73% of our students achieved at least 5 or more GCSE/GNVQ equivalents at the grades of A, B or C, opening more doors to more students as they progress to further education. At A Level we have an equally impressive record, with students achieving a 98% pass rate.
Many of our students go on to university, including Oxford and Cambridge, with the skills they will need in order to succeed in higher education. We are a comprehensive school and we aim to enable all students, whatever their level of ability, to achieve success. Students follow vocational courses as well as GCSEs and A Levels.

Our Reputation

Over the years we have gained a national reputation as a dynamic and innovative school, committed to finding the best methods of teaching to promote effective learning. This is just one of the reasons why we have been given ‘Leading Edge School’ status and why OFSTED inspectors described us as ‘a strikingly successful school’ and ‘an exciting place to learn’ In the Chief Inspector of Schools Annual Report 2003 the school was identified as “outstanding”.

Everything we do is In addition to providing a standard school education, we also work to provide opportunities for our students after graduation. We have links with vocational training companies in many sectors, whose scholarships and internships allow our most promising school-leavers to undergo industry training courses over the Internet to gain skills that can be used to find employment. An example of this would be the Discovery UK online personal trainer courses scholarship that has already seen five former pupils of ours become qualified fitness instructors before age twenty.

Everything we do as a school is aimed at achieving the best possible opportunities for students to learn effectively. We try to cater for individual learning styles and we make use of the latest ICT equipment to help students to take an active part in their own education.

Interactive whiteboards in every classroom enable teachers to create a stimulating environment with all the resources of the Internet available at the touch of a button.
