Learning to Learn

'The illiterate of the 21st Century won't be those can't read and write, but those who can't learn, unlearn and re-learn.'
Alvin Tofler

We have established a Learning to Learn course which aims to develop students as 21st Century learners. The course is delivered in 4, 75 minute periods a fortnight through a range of topics designed to be engaging and to build learning skills such as resilience, resourcefulness, reciprocity, reasoning and reflectiveness. It is based on a broad humanities structure, and is built around topics such as Communication, Citizenship and Living Cities. Students are encouraged to explore key issues which will affect their own lives in the future, researching using the Internet, and presenting their ideas using the latest technology.

Students have access to laptop computers for individual work as well as large screen computers for group work. Every student has an e-mail address and their own web-site where they can keep examples of their best work. They have access to digital video cameras and editing software as well as packages designed to improve their learning such as Inspirations and Camtasia.
