Extend curriculum provision for Science at Key Stage 4

Before we became a science college, we offered mainly GCSE Double Award Science, though had recently, and successfully, introduced GNVQ Science.

In September 2002 60 students started GCSE separate sciences courses.

These were identified from their SATs performance, coupled with the necessary enthusiasm for taking up this demanding and rigorous course!

Although they now take three GCSEs in the time normally designated for two, these students do enjoy specialist tuition from Physics, Chemistry and Biology staff.

From September 2004 another cohort of students will be offered Applied Science GCSE.
