Strengthening our Links with sponsors

CCHS is proud of the links it has established with our sponsor groups and are keen to see this relationship expand and grow.

As well as helping to shape the direction of the Science College through the Science College Management Group, the work of our sponsors is being experienced first hand by many of the students within the school.

In the summer holidays of 2003, for example, two of our sixth form chemists participated in successful work experience placements at BASF plc. They have since delivered presentations to their peers about their positive experiences and have enthused about the quality of care and attention they received whilst there.

CCHS has a long-established link with Mercke Sharpe and Dohme, who continue to support the school in many ways, including an annual Chemistry prize in Science and ongoing work with the Business Education Department. Some laptops were also donated by the company, which are being reconfigured by the ICT support team and they will be put to good use in the partnership.

Through our link with BioSciences North, we have been alerted to a series of lectures taking place in the Centre for Life, which has attracted the attention of both students and staff. The school runs free buses for students to attend these lectures and many of our Science for Public Understanding students have booked places already.

We also have a plan in development to run special ‘feature articles’ on this website, where our students can share with the wider community what they have learned about the work of our sponsors.
