ANOTHER GREAT YEAR
For the second year running the students at Cramlington Community High School broke the 70% barrier in their GCSE studies. At GCSE 71% of students achieved GCSE and GNVQ results giving them five or more A*-C. This equalled last years official record which were our best ever results.
As usual subjects across the curriculum contributed to this excellent performance. In English, 66% of students achieved Grade C or better, a figure equalled by the Science Department. This was the Science Department's best ever result and it was fitting that this should be the case for a Science College.
Excellent results were also achieved in subjects such as Humanities, Physical Education (GCSE) and the vocational areas of Catering, Health and Social Care, ICT and Business. Gemma Halsey achieved one of the five highest marks in the country in her English Literature paper out of nearly 400,000 entries! Lucy Driver achieved a similar distinction, this time in Humanities.
Outstanding individual performances at GCSE included the following students who achieved six or more A*-A grades:
| Rebecca Alcraft |
Alexandra Booth |
Deborah Brierley |
| Andrew Brown |
Jonathan Cripps |
Lucy Driver |
| Scott Elliott |
Laura Fisher |
Richard Hall |
| Gemma Halsey |
Natalie Hunter |
Aidan Kindley |
| Jack Little |
Emma Margerrison |
Michael Maxwell |
| Nicola Millward |
Rory Morrison |
Lee Nicholson |
| Laura Prior |
Ashleigh Ranft |
Alexander Shanks |
| Ian Taylor |
Mark Wallis |
Jennifer Watson |
'A' level results were also first class with a 98% pass rate on all taught courses. Again, there were some outstanding individual results. Top of the class were Alan Howard and Aidan Robson, both with four Grade 'A's. Aidan can now successfully take up his place at Cambridge to study
Maths.
