Cramlington
Community High School given Leading Edge Status
Another spectacularly successful year was crowned by the
news that the school had been chosen as a 'Leading Edge'
school, one of only 100 schools nationwide. 400 schools had
bid for this prestigious designation. Each school had to be
able to show value added at both KS3 and KS4, innovation, and
partnerships with other schools.
The idea of 'Leading Edge' schools is for the most successful
and innovative schools to help others reach a high standard
and thereby transform the whole education system. We were
singled out as a particularly good example of the "best
leading the rest" as we are one of two schools to be
featured as a case study of best practice in a publication
from the office of Public Service Reform (Cabinet Office).
Derek Wise, Headteacher of the High School said "It is
very welcome that we are nationally recognised as one of the
best and most innovative schools in the country. Certainly
this will come as no surprise to the hundreds of teachers who
visit the school or who attend our conference. Even more
important, however, is that we continue to give the young
people in Cramlington the highest quality education. These
results are a testament to the hard work and talent of both
our staff and students and we will do our very best to
continue this trend of improvement. In almost every year over
the last ten years we have improved on our previous best and
this year was no exception. We've had our best ever SATs
results at Key Stage 3 whilst equalling our best ever GCSE
results." |
